Ashish is a qualified Chartered Accountant with an Investment Banking and Big 4 background, helping banks, financial services organisations, and charities thrive through internal audit, compliance, governance and risk management consultancy services. In addition, Ashish currently holds a non-executive Audit Committee member role.

Audit and Assurance

In his early career, at PWC and EY, Ashish led external and internal audit, risk, governance and regulatory reviews as well as assurance assignments for financial service companies, hedge funds and private equity firms, in UK and Europe. Ashish’s experience includes s166 reviews dealing with governance, credit and operational risks.

In 2009, Ashish moved to Citigroup where he managed the overall financial control operations for Fund Services EMEA, co-ordinating finance teams in UK, Europe and Internationally, while managing various stakeholders such as Operations, Technology, Compliance and Finance.

With over 10 years’ combined experience of audit, assurance and investment banking, Ashish established Ashlynwood Ltd.

Through his company, Ashish has developed and managed rolling internal audit plan for various banking clients with c£0.5 to £1.5 billion balance sheet assets. Working with in-house Head of Internal Audit, Ashish has worked on many detailed internal audit reviews, for example:

  • Develop and implement control framework using COSO framework for SOX compliance, including risk assessment, control design, control testing & reporting MI
  • Special investigation of regulated mortgage process, including assessment for regulatory breach, reportable to Board and Audit Committee
  • Internal audit of transaction monitoring, AML, KYC procedures and SAR process reportable to MLRO
  • Operational risk management review providing advisory report on credit policy, including review of the basic indicator and the standardised approach, RAG rating process for credit risk adjustments
  • Finance function review for Pillar III disclosure process including review of narrative in disclosures, solvency and leverage ratio, securities financing transactions and intangibles
  • Liaised with external auditors and Financial Conduct Authority on remediation plan status
  • Reviewed implementation of payment process and product roll-out
  • Advisory report on information technology change management process
  • Review disaster recovery process and testing results

Non-Executive roles and charity work

Ashish currently holds a non-executive Audit Committee member role.

Ashish has extensive Charity experience having served as a Board Member to a not-for-profit International Trade Organisation as well as Trustee and Treasurer to a £20m+ net asset UK registered Charity.

Ashish is hugely passionate about health, wellbeing, environmental and climate change issues. Ashish has climbed Mount. Kilimanjaro (Africa’s highest mountain) twice for charity, helped organise and run Medical Camps in India, participated in numerous bike rides for The Stoke Association and walking marathons for Cancer Research UK, as well as helped fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support and The British Polio Fellowship.

Badminton

Ashish is hugely passionate about badminton, a sport which he believes can have transformative impact of individuals through both physical and mental wellbeing. Ashish is a qualified Level 2 Badminton coach, first aider and is appointed by Badminton England as a Regional Disability Coach for London and South East.

Ashish is also in the process of setting up a Vegan Badminton League, which aims to encourage the sport of Badminton to move towards using more sustainable synthetic (non-natural feather) shuttles.

Education and extracurricular activities

Ashish holds a First Class BSc(Hons) in Management & Systems, and a Masters in Investment Management from City University. His Masters dissertation was on Green Investments.

Ashish is a current a member of the ICAEW and holds a practicing certificate.

Ashish is married and enjoys playing badminton, cycling and trekking as well as dabbling in vegan cooking.
